A fully handstitched horsebit loafer in croco-embossed Sandstone Tan calfskin, framed at the throat by a polished nickel horsebit anchored on a navy grosgrain ribbon. Cream-thread welt stitching against a hand-burnished walnut edge. Warm caramel-tan calfskin lined. Cut, lasted, and stitched by hand at our atelier.
The Horsebit & the Volga 209
The Alexander rests on the Volga 209 last — an elongated Italian formal slip-on last with a low, closed instep and a soft almond toe. The entire upper is cut from croco-embossed Sandstone Tan calfskin: dense scale rows across the vamp and quarters, a shallower grain at the toe cap and heel counter, all hand-burnished under wax to a warm, dimensional shine.
Across the throat, a saddle strap crosses the vamp in the same croco calf. A dark navy grosgrain ribbon is set into the strap, and a polished nickel horsebit — two solid metal bars linked by a central ring — is anchored to it at both ends. It is the shoe's single flash of hardware and the reason it wears with a jacket as easily as with denim.
The interior is fully lined in warm caramel-tan calfskin. Goodyear-welted onto a hand-burnished walnut-edge leather sole, with cream twisted-thread stitching visible along the entire welt — a deliberate contrast against the dark edge.
