Banlieues
A fully handstitched full-brogue wingtip derby in hand-burnished Taupe pebble-grain calf. The W-shaped wingtip toe cap and the curved quarter seams are traced with dense hand-punched brogue perforations that gather into a small medallion at the toe. Warm caramel-tan calfskin lined. Cut, lasted, and stitched by hand at our atelier.
The Country Derby & the Tigris 1595
The Banlieues rests on the Tigris 1595 last — an Italian last with a slightly rounded almond toe and enough forefoot volume to sit comfortably under a heavy twill or denim. It is a five-eyelet derby — open lacing, quarters sewn on top of the vamp — cut in the fullest brogue tradition: a W-shaped wingtip toe cap, dense hand-punched perforations tracing every seam, and a small hand-punched medallion at the toe.
Where our Tournelles is the elegant Parisian split-toe derby and the Friedel is its formal oxford cousin, the Banlieues is the country expression of the same decorative language. The pebble-grain leather is the key: full-grain calf pressed to a fine natural stipple, then hand-patinated in taupe under wax. Under raking light the grain reads dimensional, catching and refusing the light in the same movement. It is the shoe that dresses down with raw denim and up with tweed, without ever asking to be polished twice.
The upper is a single piece of hand-burnished taupe pebble-grain calf, deeper at the counter and toe and lifted lighter across the vamp. Lined throughout in warm caramel-tan calfskin. Goodyear-welted onto a hand-burnished natural leather sole with a tan welt band and cream twisted-thread stitching along the entire edge.
